Current Projects

The PLACE is officially open!

We Find In Love along side Refugee Language project & Square Mile has opened a center in Amarillo, TX that is community minded with a refugee focus. The PLACE for LANGUAGE, ART, CULTURE, and ECONOMIC growth offers classes, resources, programs, and community. We are also looking forward to hosting a community event on a regular basis that will allow our city to share in a cultural exchange in a community market. This will not only allow our neighbors to showcase their nations, but also allow all our communities to come together… because everyone deserves a PLACE.

We have brought in the computer bar so the PLACE's visitors can utilize free Wi-Fi, have access to computers, and join in on future computer arts classes that will build up leaders and teachers from the many nations represented here in the Texas Panhandle. We also have other art programs available for daily visitors to participate in.

Future goals

Our long-term goal is to help other multicultural community centers get started in other interested areas around the globe. We hope to aid in the work community minded organizations and friends share a heart for empowering all of our multicultural neighbors in finding hope, community, and independence.

Programs in the Middle East

The women in the Middle East have been our organization’s inspiration. We hope to one day be a part of providing and maintaining a community center for at-risk and refugee women in the Middle East that will serve as a place to receive group therapy, life coaching, art classes, & English classes taking the PLACE to the Middle East!

Our Jordan chapter, lead by Randa, serves thousands or asylum seeking friends and neighbors. WFiL does visit this location often offering our US supporters mission trip opportunities.

Locally

Local Partners

We are fortunate to have some wonderful groups here in the Panhandle that we work with on a more regular basis.

Eastridge Mission Center is a local nonprofit who works with refugee families in the Eastridge community. Pre-COVID they were holding regular women’s luncheons that WFiL was asked to attend to guide them in a self-care craft to tie in with their monthly health lesson. Since the pandemic hit, EMC has worked hard to ensure their neighborhood is well taken care of by organizing food, clothing, and healthcare drives. WFiL has joined the many volunteers to assist in their support.

Amarillo Children’s Home is another amazing nonprofit that we have started working with. We’ve attended a few crafting events with the wonderful children and staff at ACH.

We look forward to working more closely with these groups and more in the near future! We’re always looking for more groups to work with, so please reach out if you know of a volunteer opportunity that WFiL can fulfill!

COVID-19

During this unpresidented time, WFiL is working daily to fill orders for Blind Busy Bags to give parents or caregivers a break by providing some activities for the family.  Each Blind Busy Bag (can be requested by email or on Facebook messenger) is filled with 2 activities per child, a family activity, and an outdoor activity. We are so proud to continue working in the Texas Panhandle! Help us accomplish our mission by donating or volunteering today!
